Ingham County Schools is composed of 12 main School Districts. They are the following: Dansville Schools, East Lansing School District, Haslett Public Schools, Holt Public Schools, Lansing Public School District, Leslie Public Schools, Mason Public Schools (Ingham), Okemos Public Schools, Stockbridge Community Schools, Waverly Community Schools, Webberville Community Schools, and Williamston Community Schools.

Murphy Elementary School contains 390 students from 2nd to 5th Grades. There are 99 students in the 2nd Grade, 101 in the 3rd Grade, 100 in the 4th Grade, and 90 in the 5th Grade. Its Student/Teacher Ratio is 15.4. Teachers are trained to implement the 6+1 Writing Trait program. The 6+1 Writing Trait framework is a powerful way to learn about the characteristics of good writing as well as create a common school-wide vision of what "good" writing looks like. With the 6+1 Writing Trait program, instruction focuses on the 6 traits of good writing; ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions.

C.W. Otto Middle School holds grades 6th -8th with more than 833 students. The Student/Teacher Ratio is 69.4 with 279 students being 6th graders, 280 7th graders, and 274 8th graders. The students represent the following diverse ethnic groups: American Indian, 2%; Black, 28%; Asian, 4%; Hispanic, 16%; and White, 50%. C.W. Otto Middle School concentrates on making continuous progress toward the achievement of the various grade objectives, continuous development of individual talents, skills, ideas and interests, and an increased acquisition of the necessary social skills for school success. After School activities include: Swimming, Basketball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Boys Soccer, Girls Softball, Track, and Volleyball.

Williamston High School serves a total of 671 students from grades 9th -12th. The average classroom size holds 29 students. Williamston High School has a Professional Staff of 28 individuals with 61% of its teachers having a Masters Degree. This High School is accredited by the North Central Association. Areas of curriculum concentration include Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, Related Arts, Physical Education, and Computer Education. In 2003 88% out of 130 graduate students enrolled in College.
